Sleep and epilepsy have a complex interrelationship that is influenced by various factors, including the distinct stages of sleep. Non-rapid eye movement sleep promotes epileptic activity, while rapid suppresses it. Seizures can be triggered sleep, deprivation increases seizure susceptibility. Epilepsy disrupts architecture quality, leading to disturbances comorbidities, like apnea restless legs syndrome. Excessive daytime sleepiness fatigue result from sedating effects antiseizure medications. Sleep-related exhibits seizures predominantly during with specific patterns related stages. Antiseizure medications directly impact quality should carefully considered when treating patients comorbid disorders. Understanding bidirectional relationship between crucial for effective management. Optimizing treatment strategies requires recognizing on addressing sleep-related issues in individuals epilepsy.
